Buying A Used Car
Buying The Used Car For You
There are no definitive rules when buying a used car. Wherever you choose to buy it, and whomever you choose to buy it from there are tradeoffs to be made. No matter what though, you need to check it out properly. The two most expensive items you will ever own are most likely to be your house and your car. When buying your house you did get a survey right? So make sure you do the same when buying your car make sure you find out it's true history, get it Checked.
A HPI check will reveal the vehicles true history - which much as you might trust the seller, even they might not be aware of! HPI Checking reveals the history of the vehicle, has it been recoloured, written off, had different registration plates, been stolen or is it still owed by someone else (i.e. a Hire Purchase company)!

Who To Buy A Used Car From
Buying From A Franchised Car Dealer
A Franchised Car Dealer (New Car Dealer) is one of the safest places to buy from, as they have a reputation to protect. As a consumer buying from a business the law provides you with a good deal of legal protection. Dealers should have access to a wide range of used and nearly new cars and may well be able to offer a trade in on your current vehicle. However the downside is that they will likely charge a premium for their services.
Buying From A Used Car Dealer
There are a wide range of used car dealers from your local garage forecourt to the specialist dedicated used car dealers. Any reputable used car dealer will have checked the vehicle beforehand, getting a full vehicle history check (HPI Check). Again as a consumer dealing with a business the law provides you with a good deal of legal cover. If you are at all unsure about the car you are interested in then get a Car Data Check or a HPI Check.
